Phoenix has expanded the Polarization management range
of products with the development of electronically controlled
Polarization controllers available in single channel
device format or as an 8-channel instrument.
Single
channel electronically addressed Polarization controller:
The
Phoenix Polarization
Controller has been developed utilising the
company’s established PM
fiber waveplate technology. Based on the popular
polarization scanner component, the polarization
controller is able to provide full coverage of
the Poincaré sphere enabling conversion
of the input SOP to any required output SOP. This
device offers the option of three section manual
control or external analogue voltage control.
Default condition is manual control through three
independent adjustment knobs on the top of the
device offering a direct replacement for the standard
mechanical three-loop controller. Connection to
three analogue voltages via a standard 9 pin D-type
connector enables remote independent electronic
control of each of the fiber sections.
The
8-channel
version of the polarization controller is available
in 19” rack configuration with front panel
manual control or analogue input voltage control
to each of the individual controller sections.
This instrument has been designed to give flexible
operation to control the SOP in 8 fibre lines
simultaneously for laser output control or component
measurements. Applications also include PMD
emulation in which the individual controllers
can be cascaded through PM fiber to provide
the required DGD distribution.
